Melatonin

Melatonin is made from an essential amino acid called tryptophan, melatonin is also known as the sleep hormone, this medication is compounded into capsules standard release and slow controlled release, troches and liquid oral suspensions. Melatonin is a schedule 4 medication requiring a doctors prescription.

To treat jet lag in adults aged 18 years or older with an immediate release compounded preparation containing 5mg or less of melatonin to be taken on the plane at bedtime of the final destination. Melatonin can be taken for up to four constitutive nights.  A maximum of 10 capsules of Melatonin 5mg for jet lag does not require a prescription. Counselling by the pharmacist is required.
